James Buston

Bill James is a retired City Manager of the City of Auburn, bringing over two decades of experience in executive leadership and information technology.

With an educational background including a BS degree from Oregon State University and an MS degree from Auburn University, Bill has also completed various prestigious programs at institutions like Harvard University and the University of North Carolina.

Bill's professional journey includes serving as the Assistant City Manager/CIO of Auburn for 11 years before ascending to the position of City Manager. Prior to his roles in the public sector, he spent over a decade in the private sector, holding positions such as Vice President of Software Development at Intermark and Technology Group Chairman at the R.U.R Group.

His international experience includes being a Peace Corps volunteer and a US Advisor for Latin American Affairs in Honduras. Bill has also been actively involved in organizations such as Alabama GMIS and the GMIS International Executive Board, showcasing his commitment to public service and information management.

With expertise in executive management, information technology, and public service, Bill James is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors.
