Joaquin Abondano is a product manager with a passion for creating valuable products. Beginning his professional journey at the early age of 12, he has used technology to design and develop products that enhance people's daily lives. Originating from Barranquilla, Colombia, Joaquin spent his time riding horses and working while growing up. He learned early that success is all about execution and has carried this mindset throughout his career. He was introduced to the world of personal computers through Pentium microchips, Windows 95, and an AOL CD he got from PC Mag, which led him to learn about software such as Word, Excel, FTP, and FileMaker Pro.
Joaquin's innovative mindset began at the age of 12 when he developed his first sales and ordering application. As a teenager, he traveled to Hong Kong for work and further developed his skills in building valuable solutions.
He moved to the United States as a senior in 2001 to escape a guerrilla war in Colombia, and as the oldest brother with the best English, he led his family through the cultural amalgamation with the new country. He studied management at Purdue University, where he learned the value of research and the power of building networks. The Quantum Brain book by Jeffrey Satinover spurred a passion for quantum mechanics, consciousness, and complex adaptive systems, while Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Taleb introduced him to the world of data and probabilities.
Joaquin has worked in various industries, such as e-commerce, gaming, retail, real estate, and platform marketplaces. He is highly experienced in all parts of the product life cycle, and his big picture-oriented mindset helps him make data-informed decisions while empathizing with user's needs and expectations. Joaquin is intellectually humble and practices Stoic philosophy, which has helped him navigate through challenging situations.
