Bernard Banda is an applied Economist with extensive experience exceeding 10 years in advisory and research roles across various sectors. His expertise lies in development economics, trade and investment, competition economics, healthcare economics, and public finance. Bernard has a strong background in leading teams for technical assignments for both private and public organizations, as well as international development entities. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctorate in Economics at the University of Zambia.
Bernard Banda's educational background includes studies in International Trade and Investment from the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research and Kobe University, an MSc in Economics with a focus on International Economic and Development Economics from the African Economic Research Consortium, and a BA in Economics and Mathematical Statistics from the University of Zambia. Additionally, he has attended a Quantitative Methods Summer School at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, focusing on Panel Data Econometrics, Cross-Sectional Analysis, and Quantitative Methods for Public Policy Analysis as well as pursuing his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Zambia.
Throughout his career, Bernard has held key positions such as Manager of Policy and Research at the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority. He has also served as a Visiting Researcher for the International Network of PhD programs on the SDGs at CeSPI - Centro Studi di Politica Internazionale, Manager of Research and Statistics [Markets, Competition, and Licensing] at the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority, Research Fellow in Trade and Investment at the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research, Investment Analyst at the Zambia Development Agency, Associate at Price Waterhouse Coopers, and Graduate Intern at the Bank of Zambia.
