Benjamin Hampe is a seasoned professional with a rich background in arts and cultural management, particularly in the ASEAN region. His journey with ASEAN began in 2017 when he curated a significant exhibition commemorating ASEAN's 50th anniversary at the ASEAN Gallery. This experience paved the way for his continued involvement with ASEAN, offering strategic planning, curatorial, and training services for the ASEAN Gallery and Collection. In 2020, he assumed the role of Project Director for KONNECT ASEAN, a notable USD 2 million initiative supported by the Republic of Korea and the ASEAN Foundation. With over 15 years of experience as a consultant, Benjamin has also held leadership positions in a private museum and various commercial art establishments.
Benjamin Hampe's educational background is diverse and well-rounded. He holds a Master of Arts in Curatorial Practice from the University of Bergen (UiB), a Graduate Diploma in Cultural Leadership from Griffith University, and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from The University of Queensland. This academic foundation has equipped him with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the arts and cultural sector.
Currently serving as the Project Director at the ASEAN Foundation, Benjamin Hampe has previously held key roles at prominent organizations. He has been a Consultant at The ASEAN Secretariat, a Project Advisor at the ASEAN Foundation, a Curator at The ASEAN Secretariat, the Founder & Director of Chan Hampe Galleries, and a Curator at Creative Thinking - Positive Solutions. His contributions to these organizations have been instrumental in shaping the cultural landscape of the ASEAN region.
A Burmese/Australian residing in Singapore, Benjamin Hampe's multicultural background adds a unique perspective to his work in the arts. His experiences across different countries and institutions have honed his expertise in curatorial practices, cultural leadership, and journalism.
