Benjamin Conn

Benjamin Conn is the Chief Executive Officer of the Classroom Library Company (CLC), a position he has held since January 2012. He co-founded the company with his wife, Marla Conn, in 2011, driven by their shared passions for education and retail. Benjamin's background includes growing up in his family's retail book business in Brooklyn, New York, which laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey in educational publishing.12

Under his leadership, CLC has experienced significant growth, reporting revenues of approximately $18.45 million in 2018, marking an increase of over 150% since 2016. The company specializes in distributing educational materials tailored to pre-K-12 school districts across the United States and has expanded its offerings through strategic acquisitions, including that of Novel Units in 2019.12 Conn emphasizes a user-friendly approach to packaging and distributing books, ensuring that schools receive customized materials aligned with educational standards.1

In addition to his role at CLC, Benjamin Conn also serves as the President of the Educational Book and Media Association (EBMA) and has been involved with various educational initiatives aimed at improving literacy among children.2 His extensive experience in the educational publishing sector includes leadership roles at several organizations prior to founding CLC, where he honed his skills in sales, marketing, and business development.2
