Ben Keesey is a dedicated individual with a passion for driving positive change in the world. He has a strong belief in the power of the contemplative mind to foster a more compassionate, just, and sustainable global community.
For a decade, Ben served as the CEO of Invisible Children, a renowned non-profit organization focused on ending the violence perpetrated by the Lord's Resistance Army in Africa under the leadership of Joseph Kony. During his tenure, the organization made significant strides in reducing killings by 92%, cutting the fighting force by 80%, and facilitating the safe return of 2 million displaced individuals. The collective efforts of a committed team, along with the support of generous donors, enabled Invisible Children to raise over $80 million. This funding, primarily sourced from young donors worldwide, played a crucial role in advancing the cause. Additionally, Ben's leadership led to the successful passage of two bills in Congress, which ultimately led to the deployment of US Special Forces to aid the African Union's mission. Following his departure, the capable leadership of Lisa Dougan now guides Invisible Children's impactful work from its base in Washington DC.
Before embarking on his current role at the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC), Ben collaborated with Humanity United in San Francisco. In this capacity, he leveraged his extensive experience with Invisible Children to distill valuable insights and best practices, benefiting various social impact organizations.
Ben's educational background includes a BS in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Management and Accounting Plan from UCLA.
