Bas van Wel
Bas van Wel is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in acute psychiatry. With a career spanning since 1995, he has worked in various clinical settings and crisis services. He strongly believes in the philosophy that recovery happens best at home, viewing hospital admissions as a temporary phase in outpatient treatment. Bas has conducted research on the effectiveness of VERS, the Dutch version of STEPPS, a training program designed for patients with borderline personality disorder to enhance their coping skills with intense emotional fluctuations in daily life. His research findings were published in multiple papers between 2008 and 2010.
In addition to his psychiatric practice, Bas ventured into management starting from 1998. Since 2008, he has successfully balanced the roles of a director and a psychiatrist in the Deventer region. Bas's areas of expertise include mental health legislation (BOPZ), borderline personality disorder, and acute psychiatry.
