    Barbara Burfeind is an accomplished communication planner, strategist, visual communicator, and mentor with a wealth of experience in public relations and strategic communication.

    She serves as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she imparts knowledge on Public Relations campaigns and PR writing, while also mentoring young professionals, military veterans, and PRSA accreditation candidates.

    Barbara's professional journey includes a distinguished career as a Navy public affairs veteran and federal government retiree, specializing in strategic communication and visual communication.

    She holds a Bachelor of Science in mass communications from Syracuse University and a Master of Arts in communication from the University of Oklahoma.

    Barbara has held significant leadership roles such as the past president of the PRSA National Capital Chapter, being accredited in Public Relations + Military communication (APR+M), and being recognized as a 2012 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) College of Fellows inductee.

    She has further contributed to the industry by co-chairing the 2020 and 2021 PRSA NCC APR committee and has been honored with the National Capitol Chapter 2020 Senior Professional Award and the 2021 Platinum award for outstanding service.
