Augusto Maxwell

Augusto Maxwell is the chair of the Cuba Practice at Akerman LLP, specializing in the U.S. embargo on Cuba and OFAC regulations.

As a Lecturer of Law at Columbia University School of Law, he co-teaches a seminar on 'Cuba: Law, Policy, and Transition.'

With a background as a former Assistant County Attorney for Miami-Dade County, Augusto has expertise in land use regulations, public-private partnerships, building code compliance, and government procurement.

His notable work includes projects like the development of a 140-acre leasehold at Opa-Locka Airport and representing the Florida East Coast Railway in re-establishing rail service to the Port of Miami.

Augusto's specialties also include Cuba, land use and zoning, government procurement, and municipal law and code enforcement.

He holds a B.S.F.S. in History & Diplomacy from Georgetown University, a JD from Columbia Law School, and has been associated with organizations like Akerman LLP and Columbia Law School.
