Atti Worku is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of the African Visionary Fund (AVFund), based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. With over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, she has been a prominent advocate for equity and justice in philanthropy. In her role at AVFund, Atti focuses on fostering the growth of African visionaries and their impactful ideas, particularly those that are community-centered and locally-led.12
Before her tenure at AVFund, Atti founded and led Seeds of Africa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educational development in Ethiopia. Under her leadership, Seeds of Africa transformed from a small afterschool program into a comprehensive educational institution serving 250 students, while also providing healthcare and micro-financing opportunities for local mothers.12
Atti is also recognized for her writings on power dynamics and racial injustice in philanthropy, and she has contributed to discussions on girls' education as a solution to global climate change. Her accolades include being named one of the Most Influential People of African Descent in 2019 and a nominee for the Women’s Forum Rising Talents Initiative in 2020. Additionally, she was crowned Miss Ethiopia in 2005 and holds a Cum Laude Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Development from Columbia University.12
