Asim Ghaffar

Asim Ghaffar is a seasoned technology professional with 18 years of experience, of which 10 years are in management and 4+ years in an executive management role within the software services and products sector.

Asim has a diverse background in technology, having worked in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Defense, and Telecom.

Currently, Asim is employed by EMPG, a company that owns a major online classifieds platform operating in multiple emerging markets across countries like Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, UAE, Egypt, Mexico, and others.

He has been actively involved in various leadership roles such as being a part of founding oversight committees for National Incubation Centers, sitting on the board of Step Robotics, and serving as a Board Member of OPEN Islamabad.

As a former President of Code for Pakistan, a volunteer-run non-profit organization based in the USA, Asim has led initiatives focusing on technology solutions to benefit society, including projects related to legislative performance monitoring, protection of journalists, and combatting online harassment against marginalized communities.

With a mission to enhance civic engagement, Asim is associated with the civic startup ittila.com, which aims to inform citizens and transform communication between governments and the public for a more transparent democracy.

Additionally, Asim has been actively involved in educational initiatives, having served on the National Curriculum Review Board and board of studies at several universities, with a focus on aligning computer science curricula with industry needs and modern practices.

He holds a Master's degree in Interactive Systems Engineering with a focus on AI and HCI, alongside his Bachelor's degree in Computer System Engineering.

In his spare time, Asim engages in music production, showcasing his diverse interests and talents.
