Ashley Van Zeeland, PhD, MBA

Ashley Van Zeeland, PhD, MBA has a passion for translating life science discoveries into commercial products. With extensive experience in genomics, bioinformatics and biotechnology, she has held various positions in academia and industry. Dr. Van Zeeland completed her B.A in Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder, her Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Bioinformatics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her MBA from the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego.

She has worked with Illumina, a leading genomic sequencing company, for several years in various roles. She currently serves as the Vice President of Development, Product Integration, and Customer Collaboration. She has also been the VP of Product Development Business Operations & Systems Integration and has headed their Pediatrics division. Prior to that, Dr. Van Zeeland was the Chief Technology Officer for Human Longevity and co-founded Cypher Genomics, which was later acquired by part of the Human Longevity group.

Dr. Van Zeeland has advised or served on the board of several companies in the genomics and life sciences space, including Luna DNA and Vivid Genomics. She has also been recognized for her contributions to the industry and academia, having been honored as a 2016 San Diego Magazine Woman of the Year and a 2014 Athena Pinnacle Award Finalist.
