At OTA, our work was two-fold: We championed creative people in our three-state region of North DakOTA, South DakOTA and MinnesOTA, and then we hosted creative conferences that brought all those people together. At those events, our hope was to connect and empower like-minded creatives who wanted to see their passion projects come to life. And to do that, I told their stories.

I wrote to encourage people and helped them see themselves in a positive light that perhaps they hadn't been seen in before. Reading about their passion from a different perspective validated their work, and my hope today is that these stories continue to empower others to awaken the creativity - or whatever makes them happy - that is absolutely within them.

I began work at the newspaper as a copy editor for the news desk. I then moved on to features and spent the duration of my career with Argus Leader Media curating and editing content for the features and entertainment sections. This included digital editing, blog writing, page design, copy editing and reporting. I also organized a recognition committee that celebrated great work within the company and recognized those excelling in volunteerism, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
