Angela Gibson

Angela Gibson is the Director of Scholarly Communication at the Modern Language Association, where she is responsible for the strategic vision of the scholarly communication office. Her role involves overseeing editorial, book and journal acquisitions, and digital initiatives units. Angela directs the book acquisitions strategy and also develops MLA style publications.

Angela Gibson studied Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, focusing on medieval literature and history, at Hampshire College. She further pursued her academic interests by completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Middle English Literature at the University of Rochester.

Throughout her career, Angela has held various positions within the Modern Language Association, including Associate Director of Scholarly Communication & Head of Book and Online Publications, Associate Managing Editor, Associate Editor, and Assistant Editor. She has also worked as an Editor at Freelance and held editorial positions at Chaucer Bibliographies and TEAMS Middle English Texts Series.
