Chris Barnett

Chris Barnett is the Director of Technical Excellence at Itad, a consultancy specializing in monitoring, evaluation, and learning services. He has extensive experience, having worked in over 20 countries across Africa and Asia. His notable projects include leading the five-year impact evaluation of the Millennium Villages Project in Ghana and verifying global water supply and sanitation programs for the UK Department for International Development.12
Barnett's expertise lies in evaluation design, particularly focusing on investment, research impact, livelihoods, civil society, and governance. His current research interests include innovative methodologies for evaluating impact and causality, as well as assessing the social impact of private and blended investments. He also provides senior leadership for Itad’s Knowledge Hub.13
In addition to his role at Itad, Barnett is an Honorary Associate at the Institute of Development Studies and was the founding Director of the Centre for Development Impact. He holds a doctorate from the University of Sussex.1
