Wilderness Recovery Center is a residential treatment program for adolescent males, ages 14-18 who have substance abuse issues and the emotional, behavioral, or developmental problems commonly associated with them.  The treatment program is professionally staffed and designed to address emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse issues.

My role supervised and supported the individual house managers, providing direct supervision of the teenagers in their care, and an interface with senior management.  Outside usual business hours, I was the facility's senior member of staff, and the on-site provider of last resort.  My ultimate responsibility was ensuring the safety and security of residents, while ensuring a high level of care and supervision.  My role required flexibility and adaptability, sometimes in crisis, and focus can swing instantly from dealing with facility issues, to responding to medical or emotional demands of residents.  I left this position on migration to Jamaica.

I was responsible for all for day-to-day supervision of 35 uniformed security staff, including hiring, training and discipline issues and for liaison with police, fire, and mall management and tenants.  I responded 24/7 to incidents, including being called back to the site when necessary.  As a licensed EMT, I was the lead medical responder on site.  My department was responsible for routine inspection of fire and safety equipment; operation of video surveillance and recording equipment; fire and intruder alarm panels; computerized incident reporting system; and radio and officer tracking systems.
