His academic background includes post-graduate studies in the United States through the Fullbright Fellowship, focusing on organizational leadership, public policy, and education.

Alonso studied Educational Administration, Planning, and Policy at Vanderbilt University, Public Policy at Universidad de Chile, and Civil Construction at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
