Alison Marsden
Professor at Stanford University
Alison Marsden is a distinguished professor at Stanford University with a focus on cardiovascular biomechanics and computational modeling. She holds the position of Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology) and Bioengineering at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Marsden's research primarily centers on the development of computational tools for studying cardiovascular disease progression and surgical planning. Her work involves the application of patient-specific modeling, uncertainty quantification, and optimization to cardiovascular flow simulations.
At Stanford, Alison Marsden leads the Cardiovascular Biomechanics Computation Laboratory. This lab's research aims to improve the understanding of cardiovascular disease progression, treatment planning, and medical device design through the use of computational modeling tools.
Prior to her tenure at Stanford, Dr. Marsden was a faculty member at the University of California, San Diego in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. She completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University in 2005 under the guidance of Professor Parviz Moin.
Throughout her career, Alison Marsden has received several prestigious awards recognizing her contributions to the field. These include the NSF CAREER award in 2007 and the PECASE award in 2011.
