Alex Mihailidis

Professor Alex Mihailidis is an accomplished individual serving as the Associate Vice-President for International Partnerships at the University of Toronto and the Scientific Director of the AGE-WELL Network of Centres of Excellence, specializing in technologies for older adults.

With a distinguished academic background, Professor Mihailidis holds multiple degrees including a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Strathclyde, a M.A.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, and a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

His extensive career spans over 17 years of dedicated research in technology for older adult support, resulting in over 200 publications in reputable journals and conferences in the field.

Additionally, Dr. Mihailidis is a prominent figure in the rehabilitation engineering sector, having served as the Past-President of RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America) and being honored as a Fellow of RESNA in 2014 for his significant contributions.

Recognized globally for his work, he was acknowledged by the UN in 2022 as one of the Healthy Ageing 50 – 50 leaders, dedicated to improving the world for aging populations.

Professor Mihailidis is affiliated with various prestigious organizations, including the University of Toronto, AGE-WELL NCE INC, and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, where he has held significant positions such as Scientific Director and Research Chair in Rehabilitation Technology.
