Conde Nast, Author of the Imagination Muscle
Albert Read is a prominent media executive and author who served as the Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain from 2017 to 2024.12 In this role, he oversaw renowned publications such as British Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, Tatler, and Condé Nast Traveller.1 Read's career in publishing spans over 25 years, during which he has launched and led businesses for Condé Nast in the UK, Europe, and Asia.3
Prior to his executive career, Read worked as a journalist, writing for publications like The Spectator, The Daily Mail, and The Daily Telegraph.1 He transitioned to the business side of publishing after joining Condé Nast International, where he played a key role in expanding the company's presence in Asia, including the launch of Vogue China and Vogue India.1
Read is also an author, having published "The Imagination Muscle" in March 2023, which explores the genesis of ideas and the importance of imagination in various fields.4 He studied Classics at New College, Oxford, and later obtained an MBA from INSEAD.14
In September 2024, Read was appointed as the executive chairman of the Evening Standard as it prepares to become a weekly publication under the name London Standard.2
