Alan Masarek is the Chief Executive Officer and Board Director at Avaya, a position he has held since August 1, 2022. He came out of retirement to lead Avaya during a critical period following the company's financial struggles, including a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. His previous experience also includes founding and leading Quickoffice, which became a leading mobile productivity software before being acquired by Google, where he served as Director of Chrome and Apps.23

He has been instrumental in establishing partnerships with major players like Zoom and RingCentral, and he has emphasized a gradual transition to cloud services for existing enterprise customers.34
However, Masarek announced his retirement, effective at the end of 2024, after successfully guiding Avaya through a transformative phase. His successor, Patrick Dennis, is set to take over the CEO role starting September 1, 2024.13
