Afton Vechery

Afton Vechery is a prominent entrepreneur known for her role as the co-founder and former CEO of Modern Fertility, a reproductive health company that aims to make personalized fertility information more accessible. Founded in 2017, Modern Fertility focuses on providing at-home fertility hormone tests and digital tools that empower women to understand their reproductive health proactively. The company gained recognition for its innovative approach, being named Fast Company’s #1 Most Innovative Healthcare Company and one of CNBC’s Most Promising Startups to Watch.13

Vechery's background includes significant experience in health technology and private equity. Before launching Modern Fertility, she worked at 23andMe, where she led consumer product initiatives, and held roles in various health tech startups. Her entrepreneurial journey began at a young age, inspired by a high school science fair project that addressed contaminated water wells in her hometown.132

In June 2021, Vechery sold Modern Fertility to the telehealth company Ro for approximately $225 million. Following the acquisition, she served as President of Women’s Health at Ro but transitioned to an advisory role in 2022, focusing on investing in and advising startups.1234 Vechery has been recognized in several prestigious lists, including Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and Forbes’ 30 Under 30, highlighting her impact in the field of women’s health and entrepreneurship.13

She holds a dual degree in neuroscience and business entrepreneurship from Wake Forest University and has been actively involved in initiatives promoting science and entrepreneurship.14
