Afrin Islam is an accomplished economist with a strong background in research and development, currently pursuing a PhD in Economics. With five years of experience in the development sector and research, Afrin's expertise lies in project monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, and social science research. Known for being diligent, responsible, strategic, patient, and organized, Afrin has a passion for learning and a keen interest in exploring new concepts.
Afrin pursued a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a Master of Science in Financial Economics from Illinois State University in the USA. Afrin furthered their education by completing a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Dhaka and is currently engaged in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Economics at Washington State University. Their academic journey also includes completing Higher Secondary School Certificate (H.S.C) and Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) from Viqarunnisa Noon School & College.
Afrin's professional experience includes serving as an Instructor and Graduate Assistant at Washington State University, where they have also previously held positions as a Graduate Assistant. Prior to their current role, Afrin worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Illinois State University in the Department of Economics. Additionally, Afrin has contributed their expertise as a Senior Business Consultant at Swisscontact-Katalyst in the Monitoring & Results Measurement Group, and as a Business Consultant at the same organization. Their earlier roles include serving as a Research Associate at the Center for Policy Dialogue and as a Research Executive at the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association.
