Afonso Uapita

Afonso Uapita is a seasoned professional in the field of Public Health with extensive experience in implementing programs funded by PEPFAR, USAID, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

He has specialized in Epidemiological Surveillance for Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and Sexual and Reproductive Health, honing his skills through work with international and national NGOs like MALARIA CONSORTIUM, mothers2mothers (m2m), WORLD VISION, and Nweti-Communication For Health.

Afonso's interventions have covered areas such as SBCC (Social Behavior for Change Communication), Qualitative, Quantitative, and Formative Research, showcasing his diverse skill set.

He furthered his expertise by completing a specialization in monitoring and evaluation for Malaria and HIV/AIDS Programs in 2017 through MEASURE EVALUATION in collaboration with USAID and CDC.

In addition to his public health work, Afonso Uapita has a background in advocacy and human rights, having been a member of the International framework on human rights in the Youth Party in Mozambique, where he championed civil rights, freedom of expression, and causes related to human rights.

His educational background includes a Master's degree in Public Health from UCM, a Graduation in Epidemiological Surveillance and Education in Health from Faculdade Sul Mineira-Brasil, a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Education from Eduardo Mondlane University-Mozambique, and a Specialization in M&E for Malaria and HIV/AIDS programs from MEASURE Evaluation in collaboration with USAID and CDC.

Throughout his career, Afonso has held various roles in organizations, such as Project Technical Officer at Malaria Consortium, Research Agent for Evaluation of the National Malaria Surveillance System at Malaria Consortium, Research Officer for Sexual Reproductive Health Services at mothers2mothers, SBCC Provincial Leader Consultant at N'weti-Comunicação para Saúde, and Communication team member at Conselho Nacional de Combate ao HIV/SIDA, among others.
