Undergraduate Researcher - Dr. Micheal Mitchell

The Yang group focuses on developing novel materials synthesis and fabrication methods at the convergence of top-down and bottom-up approaches for directed assembly of complex, multi-functional nano- and micro-structured soft materials and their nanocomposites.

Research Intern - Dr. Shu Yang

I worked on: competitive analysis, identifying commercial benchmarks, coding a next generation valuation model, identifying non-dilutive capital opportunities. 
Coding for the valuation model was done in Python and R and involved predicting FDA trial success.

BioConvergent Health

Intern, Bioconvergent Health

At the residential program, I worked in a biochemistry and microbiology lab focused on studying legumes (plants like beans, sprouts, and peanuts). I worked nearly independently on a research project focused on studying a specific protein and its function in plants’ ability to form symbiotic relationships with bacteria. The proteins studied hold the potential to serve as a new branch of antibiotics, as they are known for inhibiting certain functions of bacteria to force symbiosis.

The Wang Lab's goal is to understand the interaction between multicellular hosts and their microbial partners, with a focus on symbiotic associations.

Research Intern - UMass Amherst 

The University of Akron is one of the most famous universities in the United States for polymer research and for their polymer chemistry graduate program. I had a privilege of working on a project to advance the usability of PCL (Polycaprolactone), which is a polymer with biomedical applications such as long-term implants and drug release applications.
