•Machine Nozzle Shut Off Device – NPI (Product Owner)
The overall design, development, and full lifecycle ownership of this product. Perform DFMEA, Defining material specification, Tolerances, and finishes required to meet design intent. Define Machining Process parameter requirements that are compatible with goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost in mass production. Prepare Bill of Materials (BOMs) and component drawings for manufacturing.

•Dual Stage Filter – Product Development
Responsible for the Preliminary Design Concept which includes a high-level Bill of Material (BOM), the definition of the scope of the project, along with internal and external interactions, Product Requirement Documentation, Assembly instructions, schematics, CAD drawings. I managed the prototyping and validation of the product.

•Single Cavity Valve Gate – Product Improvement Project
Reduced Development Cost, reduce bulkiness, efficient manufacturing and improved quality product is what MDI aims to achieve with the new generation of a single plate housing design concept for the SCVG assembly. Exhaustive design inputs, Proof-of-concept, Verification of the functionality, Validation that the issue at hand is addressed and is eliminated, Design for manufacture validation, and verification that costs are on target.

•Multi Point Nozzle (1 Plate System) – Product Improvement Project
Design for Manufacturing is an important first step because the further along it goes; the harder it is to include a design change. This will include the preliminary design of the new locating ring that will replace the 2 plate systems into one. The first build-out of the prototype is the Engineering Verification build. The goal is to ensure the design is sound. Designed a series of experiments to put the prototype through rigorous testing and reliability will be measured.

• Designing hot runner systems from concept through production for the plastic injection molding industry. Developing new patented products through design, documentation, and testing.
• Implementing inventory management which reduced assembly time by a third using lean manufacturing techniques.
• I led the development of the Design Library cataloging products and components that resulted in the reduction of design lead times by 50%, reduced production costs and reduced material costs.
• I have led and continue to lead on a number of research and development projects to introduce a larger product range, manage the production of hot runners. Partnership working has been key to my results liaising closely with Engineering, Production, and clients.

• Increased production rate to 25% by redesigning the Valve Gate nozzles to solve freezing issues.
• Developed a stack mold, meeting unique requirements to increase production from 200,000 to 500,000 parts per month.
• Wrote the technical manual for the patented Hot-Runner injection molding systems providing a customer reference.
• Designed a prototype manifold on Solidworks which uses an external equation solver to solve the order in which features are created on a design. Plugging in numbers to this software leads to a fully built manifold with the desired number of drops.
• Developed the revolutionary machine nozzle shut off device that stops drooling of plastic on the machine which is now in production and awaits a patent.
