Meet Colin Kelly, a tax counsel and partner at Fried Frank with extensive experience in providing tax advice to the Asset Management Practice, as well as representing investment funds and their portfolio companies. With a focus on complex international and domestic transactions, Colin has advised clients on a wide range of tax issues, including inbound and outbound cross-border investments, bankruptcies and restructurings, foreign governments, and financial products.

Apart from his legal practice, Colin has also engaged in a significant amount of pro bono work. He has assisted clients in tax controversies, counseled on 501(c)(3) issues, and represented Edith Windsor, a well-known LGBTQ+ rights activist in a groundbreaking case that overturned the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the U.S. Supreme Court. Additionally, Colin serves on the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, a nonprofit that provides free civil legal services to underprivileged Brooklyn residents.

Colin holds a degree of Juris Doctor in Law from Columbia University School of Law, and an A.B. degree in Physics and the History of Science from Harvard University. Prior to joining Fried Frank, Colin worked as Counsel and Associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and served as a Summer Associate and Intern at the same firm. He also gained experience as a Research Assistant in Physics at Harvard University.
