Nayi Dhara is a bi-monthly Hindi literary magazine with a rich seventy-year-old history of being a platform for illustrious Hindi writers.
 
Nayi Dhara was launched in 1950 by Uday Raj Sinha, who drew inspiration from his father Raja Radhikaraman Prasad Sinha, an important figure in the development of modern Hindi prose. The inaugural issue of the magazine carried a letter to the editor from renowned Hindi poet Maithili Sharan Gupt. Since then, Nayi Dhara has been a literary home for stalwarts of ‘Hindi Sahitya’ such as Mahadevi Verma, Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, Rahul Sankrityayan, Ramavriksha Benipuri and Phanishwar Nath ‘Renu’.
 
The tradition of bringing high-quality Hindi literature in a variety of genres continues to this day with over 10,000 literary works having been published so far by over 3,000 authors. 
 
2020-21 is the centennial year of Nayi Dhara’s founder, Uday Raj Singh. To mark this occasion and to build on the legacy of the print magazine, Nayi Dhara is now going to be available on digital platforms spanning an upcoming website, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube channel. Nayi Dhara digital will offer Hindi literature lovers a host of offerings in the form of webinars, podcasts, videos, literary posts and other media. 
 
Nayi Dhara will continue to promote Hindi by creating an online repository of literature that is accessible to younger and older audiences alike.

Nayi Dhara is now helmed by Pramath Raj Sinha, founder and trustee of Ashoka University and founding Dean of the Indian School of Business (ISB). His keen interest in literature and education form the cornerstone of Nayi Dhara’s new ventures.

Having worked as an independent producer in India and US, I am well versed with the working styles of both countries. Over the course of my career I have worn different hats- I have been an Executive Producer, Producer, Director, Editor and Script Writer for films, corporate videos, informational and educational videos and fund-raising films for non-profit organizations. 

My core strengths include creative ideation, script development, Project planning, pre-production, grant-writing and film and video production. I also excel at budget planning, developing social media strategy and analyzing metrics for future planning.

In the course of my experience as an Independent Producer, I have hired and negotiated with top–tier freelance producers, directors, designers and on-camera talent. 

Working on both sides of the traditional fiction and non-fiction divide, my films have won awards, traveled to film festivals and have been broadcast on TV in India and the US. Some of my films have been invited to be a part of college and public libraries in the United States. 

My recent works include CSR films for GAIL, training films for grassroots level workers in  UNICEF Chhattisgarh, public service ads for UNICEF, an informational film on heart diseases for Dr. Balbir Singh at Medanta Hospital- Gurgaon, a film on writer Khushwant Singh commissioned by Penguin Books, a documentary for Public Service Broadcasting Trust etc.

FriendsOfBooks is an online library and a used books store. We set up FoB in 2008 with an aim to provide easy access to books all over India. I implemented business strategies, lead negotiations with service providers, set-up warehouses and hired personnel. I also developed cost-efficient innovative marketing and media plans to get maximum publicity for our self-funded venture. Today. FriendsOfBooks is a leading name in book rental and sales of used books.

FriendsOfBooks believes that encouraging an interest in reading among  children has many benefits to society. We organize workshops, book-swaps, puppetry and story telling sessions for pre-school and primary school children.

Independent Lens is a weekly show aired on PBS in the US and is the winner of 7 Emmy Awards, 13 Peabody Awards, 5 duPont Awards, and has been nominated for 7 Academy Awards. 

As the AP for Independent Lens, I was responsible for shepherding selected filmmakers from all over the world through stages of creative approvals, securing music licensing, insurance, Errors and Omissions certificates and ensuring that they comply with FCC guidelines. I was also ITVS’s interface with PBS. I supervised post-production, packaging and promo for the series.

As the coordinator for True Stories, an ITVS initiative to showcase the best of US documentaries internationally, I worked closely with the curators as well as international broadcasters to ensure technical checks. I also coordinated the shooting of anchor links with a Hollywood celebrity actor, supervised post-production, packaging, subtitling and final delivery of tapes to the country of broadcast.

In 1996, NDTV was one of the few 24-hour channels in the country. As its producer for the Arts, Entertainment and Features section, I was responsible for conceptualization to airing of content in these segments. 

In 1998, NDTV did a co-production with the BBC for the Hindi remake of the classic series Yes Minister and Yes Prime-Minister. As Casting Director/Assistant Director, I engaged established actors from the Indian film and theatre world. I also oversaw post-production and packaging of the series and liaised with the BBC regarding technical specifications.
