Emile Jansen

Emile Jansen is a notable figure in the South African Hip Hop scene, recognized as a pioneer and the founder of the Heal the Hood Project in 1998.

He established the Heal the Hood Project with the aim of empowering youth through activities and developing skills related to Hip Hop elements such as B-boying, DJing, MCing, and Writing.

Emile Jansen has a background in education, having studied a Teachers Diploma in Education, Biology, and Physical Education at Wesley Teachers College of Education, as well as completing his Senior Certificate at St Owens Senior Secondary School.

His role as the Creative Director of Heal the Hood Project highlights his dedication to using the platform to positively impact youth and address issues such as racial divides, with a focus on promoting self-awareness among young people globally.

In his previous roles, Emile Jansen has also served as a school teacher at Battswood Primary School, a B-boy/Break-dancer, an activist, and an artist, showcasing his diverse skill set and commitment to community development.

He is a former founder and Creative Director of Black Noise, further illustrating his deep involvement in the cultural and artistic movements in South Africa.
