Hannah Simnett is an accomplished leader, speaker, and influencer who is passionate about empowering young women to realize their true potential. She is the founder of Cherished, an award-winning organization that provides support and guidance to girls facing challenging circumstances. Hannah has always been deeply committed to helping young girls develop the confidence and resilience they need to thrive in life.
Hannah wrote the Cherished Course while earning a degree in Youth, Children’s and Community Work from the University of Nottingham. She began delivering the course in secondary schools in 2011 with great success. Today, Cherished has expanded to over 35 schools across North Birmingham and the Midlands, with a team of 70 dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to support their mission.
One of Hannah's primary areas of focus is the impact of trauma on the brain, body, and behavior. Cherished's mentoring services are attachment-focused, and all volunteers are trained in Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) and Attachment Theory. Hannah has also provided ACE training to more than 5000 professionals in various fields, including police officers, children's charities, social and support workers, and educators.
Hannah is also a seasoned lecturer, having taught Social Work, Counseling, Health, and Social Care at University College Birmingham. She holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the University of Chester and has served as the Chief Executive of Cherished. Hannah is committed to building a trauma-informed society and invites others to join her vision by volunteering as mentors or booking Cherished ACE training for their organization.
