Adam was a cross-functional leader within the Sam's Club organization of Wal-Mart, spear-heading the strategy, planning, and execution of transformational multi-channel programs.  Part architect, part marketer, and part program manager, his skills and leadership ensured success for programs that positively impacted digital and brick-and-mortar technologies, business processes, and financial results.  He further leveraged his experience by advising Wal-Mart's international E-Commerce divisions.

* Responsible for Sam's Club's digital (multi-channel) marketing and .com operations:  Digital Marketing (SEM, SEO, Banner, Micro-Sites, Club Engagement, etc), Online Media (Site Monetization), Membership, Site Operations, Reporting and Analytics, Product Management, and Program Management

Head of E-Commerce Marketing & Operations

As a Senior Strategy Manager, Adam added responsibilities for the Digital Marketing team under his wing.  He also collaborated with the executive management to redefine the future of Samsclub.com.  With a clear understanding of Samsclub.com's strategic positioning against its competition, and the financial returns that could be achieved with a strategic investment from the company, Adam worked with the executive management to plan for, and execute, one of the top 3 largest initiatives in Sam's Club.

* Responsible for team of 31 covering Digital Marketing, Reporting and Analytics, Product Management, and Program Management

* Programs include Samsclub.com Re-Platform (all technology, network to front end and all external and internal applications) – all aspects from financial case to proposal to vendor selection to final delivery.  Program implemented Oracle|ATG with Endeca Search, Sterling OMS back-end, and 71 other legacy and third party integrations to create a centralized, world-class platform.

Sr Mgr E-Commerce Strategy

Recognizing that bottlenecks in business strategy and business process were constraining the positive impact of technology, Adam agreed to transition out of IT with the intent of implementing an organization and business processes that would fully leverage the potential of technology in E-Commerce.  He quickly structured the business unit and it's business processes to efficiently identify, prioritize, and define strategic opportunities that were subsequently translated to IT projects.  The new strategic business processes positively impacted the collaboration of multiple cross-functional teams, effectively changing the organization's mindset on technology from it being a pain point to a strategic asset.

* Responsibility for Process Management, Product Management, and Web Analytics 

* Experience in multiple aspects of .com business including merchandising, marketing, operations, fulfillment, member service 

* Implemented Program and Process Management Office for samsclub.com division, effectively managing the roadmap and execution of corporate, eCommerce and multi-channel digital strategies

Sr E-Commerce Program Manager

For a year and a half, Adam's time was leveraged to re-invent Samsclub.com using leading edge designs and technologies centered around the IBM WebSphere technology stack.  His vision and innovation lead to the implementation of an advanced "site management" tool that enabled the business to modify their entire site's design without the need for IT involvement, and lead to the implementation of a new E-Commerce system that delivered faster load times, higher conversions, and a revolutionary cross-channel purchasing experience for the $400m business unit.

* Application Design, Development, Implementation and Support

* Designed and developed, and implemented technical framework for Samsclub.com multi-channel web site (immediately driving over $400m in annual revenue)

* Advised IBM on leading-edge, enterprise-level implementation of the innovative Struts/Tiles framework in combination with their proprietary DynaCache product.  Advised IBM DynaCache's chief architect to resolve product issues and roadmap product improvements.

* Lead multiple simultaneous projects, including direct support for Wal-Mart's CIO, Linda Dillman

Sr. Programmer Analyst

In Adam's first weeks with Wal-Mart, he was tasked with adding reporting and analytics to Samsclub.com to enable strategic, data-driven planning.  Within a month, he had successfully implemented the industry-leading web analytics tool, Omniture SiteCatalyst, and enabled valuable dashboards for executive decision support.  

He collected several peer-nominated and executive-nominated awards throughout the year for this project, and others.

Advanced Programmer

Adam began his professional work during high school, providing consultation and development services to local business in southern Minnesota.  His projects included logos and designs for some of the largest local organizations, as well as end-to-end eCommerce implementations. 

Adam built custom credit card payment systems in a time where plug-and-play payment systems didn't exist.

Adam also architected and built a multi-site framework to enable multiple school systems to sign-up for their own school-branded and teacher-driven class websites before .com businesses were popular.
