During the challenges of COVID lockdowns and amidst complex M&A activity, I stepped in as co-CEO alongside James Balmain, who had joined Induction through the acquisition of Zesty. We ran the company together, navigating the challenges of being a healthcare startup amidst rapid changes in the healthcare landscape, on Zoom (!) and completed the acquisition of Attend Anywhere in 2021.

Following a short break from the world of clinical trials, I became more interested in the use of digital technologies as productivity tools for doctors and healthcare workers. I was particularly interested in the opportunities for digital tools to improve communication between doctors, healthcare workers and patients - and enable more effective delivery of remote care. I founded Induction Healthcare and, together with Ibs Mahmood and Seb Jantet, floated the fledgling company on the London AIM exchange to "buy and build" the tools that such a clinical ecosystem would require.

Induction Healthcare was originally built around a clinical messaging product, MedX, that supported real time encrypted messaging between healthcare providers. The platform evolved to incorporate an innovative directory app, known as the "Induction App" established by Ed Wallitt, that organically grew from around 15,000 original UK based users to over 320,000 UK based clinicians - making it one of the most popular digital tools amongst British doctors. The company evolved to incorporate MicroGuide, Britain's most widely used antibiotic and pharmacy guideline management system and distribution service. In 2020, Induction grew to incorporate Zesty, a cutting edge "digital front door" for patients to British public hospitals, and acquired Attend Anywhere in mid 2021 - the leading telehealth software platform for the British acute healthcare system. Today Induction Healthcare has become an important foundation for the British, Scottish, Welsh and Irish healthcare systems.

After observing the challenges associated with running complex multinational clinical trial operations, I wanted to create a cloud based platform for sponsors, CROs and clinical trial sites to digitally coordinate the business process operations and transactions associated with running clinical trials. Working alongside Ibs Mahmoud and Melissa Easy, I cofounded DrugDev, raising capital from Invesco Perpetual to buy and build these technologies and services. From 2012 to 2017, DrugDev worked alongside innovative sponsors including Pfizer, Lilly, Merck, J&J - and later Transcelerate - to establish a leading business process platform for managing clinical trial site identification, start-up and contract payments management.

After facing operational challenges associated with recruiting patients for longitudinal safety and genetic studies, I decided that the best way to do this would be to build a community of clinically profiled patients that were interested in participating in research. 

With the support of Quintiles CEO, I started the first and only medication monitoring system for patients taking multiple medicines, providing personalized drug interaction alerts and safety recalls to patients by email, while being able to mobilize the right patients for exciting scientific projects. 

Now with over 2.5 million registered users in the US, and hundreds of thousands across Europe, Latin America and Australia, MediGuard and its unique patient base has been integrated within Quintiles' core operations as the basis for rapid direct-to-patient research.

Following the acquisition of HRS, I relocated to the US with Quintiles where I created a late phase & real world evidence vision for the company (and adjusted as the market rapidly evolved pre/post Vioxx), recruited and managed the senior team, consolidated late phase and drug safety operations worldwide, established a successful sales team and negotiated the successful closure of seminal late phase contracts and development of global clinical trials infrastructure that have defined the Phase IIIB/IV landscape over the past 25 years.
