Taniya Mishra, PhD
Taniya Mishra, PhD is an experienced computer scientist and machine learning specialist with a passion for mentoring and diversity in tech. With a doctorate in computer science from Oregon Health and Science University and a background in mathematics and computer science from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Mishra has more than two dozen patents and has authored more than 30 technical publications. She has worked in various roles, including Director of AI Research and Lead Speech Scientist at Affectiva, Principal Inventive Scientist at Interactions LLC, and Senior member of Technical Staff at AT&T Labs Research. Mishra has created technologies that help children learn to read, aid the visually impaired, and improve the social interactions of those with autism spectrum disorders. Her work on affective computing has been featured in The Atlantic and NBC News. She is deeply passionate about STEM education and mentoring, having founded SureStart and grown the highly competitive EMPath Internship Program at Affectiva.
