Marianne Ryan is a versatile and accomplished professional with expertise in aligning creative endeavors to achieve humanitarian goals. She has studied extensively and holds a Ph.D. candidate (in progress), Certificate of Graduate Studies, and a Master of Science, all in Information from the University of Michigan, along with degrees in Law and Religion from Yale and Trinity College-Hartford, respectively. Marianne is well-known for her strategic, evidence-based philanthropy and capital investment in local and global initiatives, as well as her leadership development and mentorship skills. Her areas of competency include guiding internal teams, evaluating structural impact, and implementing sustainable best practices through improvement science techniques. Additionally, Marianne brings an entrepreneurial, community asset-based approach to capacity development and empowerment that has helped her design and manage complex, transformational projects and institutions at multiple levels of scale. Her work with tech ecosystems, including innovation labs, incubators, accelerators, hackathons, and makerspaces, has helped to create a culture of inquiry, inspiration, insight, and ingenuity in future-oriented enterprises. Marianne has experience in addressing policy, legal, and ethical implications of emerging technologies for global civil society, as well as impact investing, grant portfolio management, social finance, blockchain, and online crowdfunding campaigns. She is also skilled in using digital tools and virtual platforms for inclusive, interactive, remote, collaborative environments. Marianne has worked as the Director of Leadership and Engagement at Singularity University, Resident Fellow at the Lloyd Hall Scholars Program at the University of Michigan, Artificial Intelligence Exhibit Component Developer and Curator at the Museum of Science in Boston, and as an Intellectual Property Attorney at Pattishall McAuliffe. She has also worked in academia as an Adjunct Professor of Law at The John Marshall Law School and as a Research Scholar at the National Center on Philanthropy and the Law at New York University. In addition to all of this, Marianne is a performing artist with the International Space Orchestra, which uses music to explore the intersection of science and art.
