Meet Markel Uriarte, a design strategist and founding partner at HOLON Design who helps design teams create the "why" and "how" that lead to a more meaningful "what." With a Master's degree in Advanced Design Studies from UPC School and a summer course in Futures of the Future, Foresight, and Future Studies from Universitat Ramon Llull under his belt, Uriarte is a seasoned pro when it comes to design education. Additionally, he has studied Integrated Design and Ecodesign at Syddansk Universitet/University of Southern Denmark and obtained a degree in Ingeniero, Técnica Mecánica from Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Uriarte has worked as a design research teacher at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and taught at various universities in Barcelona, including Escola Universitària de Disseny i Enginyeria de Barcelona, IED Barcelona, and BAU, Centro Universitario de Diseño de Barcelona. He has also worked as a certified consultant for "Innovation Management" and "Circular Economy" at ACCIÓ and was a former Sustainable Production and Consumption Project Manager in Ecodesign at Basque Ecoinnovation Agency Ihobe. Uriarte has served as a guest professor and tutor at various universities, including Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and UIC Barcelona. He was also the technical coordinator of the Basque Ecodesign Center's Idea Laboratory at inèdit and formerly worked as a Design Strategist and Transition Designer at the same company.
