Together with the head of research, I work on putting together research programs for topics within the AI field. This involves putting together a strategy, writing research assignments, and working with marketing to reach potential researchers and students for our research program. Our goal is to improve the way we use AI for our clients and the work field as a whole.

In my role as a researcher do my own research and support students in their AI research during their master thesis. I help them put together experiments and support them by providing guidance and tooling. With this, we improve the quality of research done by our students and researchers while making their life easier so they can focus on what matters most.

Finally, I help design and develop an AI research environment in the cloud that our students and researchers can use for their projects. Our for this research environment is to provide a way of working that improves the reproducibility of experiments. It also helps make it easier for us to share research with the rest of the AI field.

Together with a team of data engineers I"m realizing event-driven ingestion logic, a data lake, and a data catalog on top of cloud technology with open-source software. I'm responsible for the architecture and design of the data lake. I work with the business, the enterprise architect, and developers to ensure that they can build new innovations with things like machine learning and big-data.

After two years of doing active work in open source in 2018 I've been award the MVP award in the AI category for my work as AI specialist and public speaker. In 2016 and 2017 I've been awarded a Microsoft MVP award in the category Visual Studio and Development technologies for my work in the Microsoft development community.

As a technology advocate I inspire my colleagues and customers of Info Support on technological topics such as AI, Machine Learning, DevOps and Cloud Computing. I help teams adopt different techniques and get better at what they do.

I'm active as a solution architect, supporting teams in redesigning several micro-services to move from on-premises physically deployed pieces of software to Azure and containerization. In my team, we're improving event-driven approaches, performance characteristics, and the agile processes for producing the APIs. I'm responsible for the solution architecture and the quality of the design of the micro-services. I'm working together with the enterprise architecture team to create a feedback loop for architecture choices.

As a board member I was responsible for supporting local communities in their efforts to set up meetups or online events.

I worked with the local communities to make the mission to connect AI communities across the world to share ideas and content with each other a reality.

In my time for the Global AI Community I took care of the following topics:

-  Organize online conferences to provide communities with a way to stay in touch despite the pandemic
-  Set up a community board to spread the work among more people so we were better able to keep up with the growth.
-  Partner with Microsoft AI marketing to reach more developers and data scientists.
-  Partner with various companies to get more interesting talks for members of the community

I designed and developed a new graph-based solution for the KYC department of FMO. I've used Azure CosmosDB with the Gremlin API to easily find companies and subsidiaries that needed to be screened as part of the KYC process.

Worked on the architecture and design of a streaming data processing platform based on Azure Kubernetes Service with Apache Flink and Apache Kafka. Supported the team in setting up the environment and helped them secure it.

Worked as a software architect on the new developer portal for Yolt Technology Services.
Supported the team by designing and setting up the initial structure for the solution. Coached developers in building the different components.

Worked on implementing a modern data warehouse and analytics environment with Azure data lake, Data Factory and Azure Databricks to support self-service analytics and the development of several statistical and mathematical models.

FMO - Dutch Development Bank

Helped several teams improve the architecture of several REST services for the PSD2 implementation by providing guidance and a reference implementation.

Binck bank is constantly improving their IT processes and architecture. I helped Binck develop a new solution for calculating monthly fees based on a microservice architecture. I actively coached a team to grow in their development skills by providing advice on solutions to problems and by questioning them about their current methods.

I help the various development teams at ALFAM to get started with infrastructure as code as a means to innovate the way they deploy their applications to production.

I provide guidance on how to setup infra-as-code solutions and teach the teams how to use Powershell DSC and how to best use infra-as-code in general.

I regularly help companies get started with machine learning and AI. As part of my job I teach people about AI and help design solution architectures that include an AI component.

Recently I've started developing a tool called plsexplain. This tool helps data scientists break open the black box of their machine learning model. The tool shows information about feature importance and provides tools to debug machine-learning models in production.

As a technical lead for the consumer credit and leads team I helped develop open banking APIs for ALFAM. In my role as technical lead I was responsible for reviewing technical designs and coaching younger developers on the team.

Technical Lead

Worked together with a team of 10 people on a standard messaging platform. We produced a number of REST services together with support for mobile push notifications on iOS and Android for our standard messaging platform. The solution is cloud hosted in Amazon and uses a combination of MySQL and Microsoft SQL server for storage. We provided a standard link with MissionMode for targeted messaging.

I worked as a technical lead, providing architecture support to the team. The people building the product could come to me for questions regarding the application architecture. I also helped shape the various services and background processes that make up this product.

Working on a new Orchard based website for a dutch fund that helps people with loans to save energy in and around their homes. The website provides people with information about the loans and also lets them order brochures or file an application for a loan.

Worked on creating concepts and expanding ideas for a new style of knowledge sharing portal called knowNow. Based on crowdsourcing thoughts and concepts, this portal offers a way for co-workers to share knowledge. The system learns about its users and offers them knowledge, that would otherwise be hard to find.

While working on this product I was responsible for the user interface design and lead development tasks on the team. Which means a lot of designing and providing overview/help to other developers on the team to make the best product possible.

We used Kanban and Lean principles to plan the product development. We relied heavily on automated testing and a continuous deployment pipeline so that we were able to deploy a new version of our software minutes after making a change to the code.

knowNow - Learn, Know, Share

Lead developer

Responsible for the initial design of the ISKE app. The ISKE app is an app that co-workers at the company can use to see what talks are on every week on wednesday. They can use the app to provide feedback on the talks and find extra materials related to the talks.

The ISKE app is developed according to our cross-platform mobile architecture/strategy using the Xamarin tools and Microsoft Visual Studio.

Developer ISKE app

Responsible for designing and building the Android version of the LastSeats app. This app can be used by customers to order last-minute tickets for a movie or theatre, straight from the local pub or from their home using their mobile phone. The app uses GPS and distance calculations to offer tickets for shows close to where the user is.

This app is created for Android, iOS and Windows Phone using Xamarin tools and Microsoft development tooling for Windows Phone using a cross-platform architecture.

Senior developer

Internship at Info Support for the final year of a study computer science. Created a web portal which allowed customers to make reservations for a training at Info Support. Featuring Windows Workflow Foundation to support a customizable reservation workflow and <a href="http://ASP.NET">ASP.NET</a> as the main framework to build the portal with.

Contributed to a Biztalk 2006 solution that supports order processing and delivery towards a warehouse robot. Also contributed to expanding the use of portals based on Sharepoint 2007 within the company, by building custom webparts and sharepoint solutions.
