Envisioned and built this artisanal ice cream shop with two locations.  Starting with very little experience in the food/service industry, I researched and developed every aspect of this successful business from recipes, regulations and practices through putting every system in place and writing every document and manual needed to run the day-to-day operations

After many years as a TED conference attendee, I spent two years as a paid researcher for possible speakers.  Additionally, I reviewed speaker ideas submitted by the public.  In this role, I was responsible for finding speakers who were innovative, interesting and matched the TED ethos.  This included reviewing online videos, written documents and news articles.  A written summary of candidates was submitted to TED on a weekly basis and reviewed via video call.

I was lucky enough to be flexible with my time and employment while my children were young.  During this time I remained active and employed in several capacities.

Personal Trainer - After obtaining my personal training certification I trained private clients and provided personal training in a gym.


2001 - 2006
Owner of two Subway Sandwich franchises - We purchased and ran two Subway franchises.  I was responsible for marketing and all financial duties.  We sold both franchises in 2006

1997 - 1999
Owner of Gymboree Play Program franchise - I purchased a Gymboree franchise, found a suitable location, completed the build-out and ran the program before selling the business in 1999.
