JSOU Capstone Course - “Designing Influence Operations to Counter Cyber Adversaries Targeting National Security Assets - A Collaborative Approach” 

The purpose of the “Cyber Adversaries Influence Operations” capstone project will to familiarize students and faculty to the USSOCOM mission as related to Influence Operations (IO) and develop new ideas as to how these operations can be developed, modified and applied in new and unique manners to cyber based adversaries, who are targeting national security related assets.  The IO process that will be developed will consist of three stages, including: 1) Definitive identification of the adversary (individual-nation state); 2) Behavior Influence and Analysis of the adversary/adversaries; and 3) Development and application of “Customized Influence Operations” against the target adversary/adversaries.

1. Cyber Horizon’s Research Elective 

The Cyber Horizons Group Research Elective is designed to grow leaders who, regardless of career path, are effective and credible within the cyber warfare community. The purpose of this course is to explore the organized use of cyberpower for the purposes of the state with particular attention paid to the: USG cyber community; allies, major partners and global aspects of the conduct of cyberwarfare; cyber vulnerabilities and threats; and operations, planning and analysis of desired effects in the domain. Students will leave this course with a clearer understanding of strategic context of, and sources of victory in cyber conflict, and deliver research products that will lead to policy recommendations and assist larger USAF requirements.  

2.	Cyber Operational Design Studio

Focus of the operational design studio is to leverage strategic and operational thinking about how cyber technology is developed and employed to meet national security strategies in the next decade. This will enable students to use their innovative classroom experience to garner an "out-of-the-box" look at cyber strategy and operational systems analysis

3.	Program on Cyberpower, National Security and Military Operations

The central aim of this program is to contribute to a better understanding of the structural sources of cybersecurity challenges, and to identify common methodologies that will serve as framework for identifying technical solutions and better informed policies, law and doctrine. The program will continue the vision of the cyberpower conference series for Cyber College by serving as a focal point in which ideas and experiences amongst cyber professionals from interagency, joint, industry, academic and international entities are shared.
