John Cowgill is a partner at Costanoa Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Palo Alto, California. He joined the firm in 2016 and has since invested in a diverse portfolio of enterprise technology companies, ranging from car dealership software to satellite technology. Prior to this role, Cowgill worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company where he advised consumer and technology companies on strategy and operations projects. Cowgill studied Learning and Organizational Change at Northwestern University where he earned his B.S. summa cum laude.

Passionate about diving deep into markets with founders who know their business cold, Cowgill aims to earn the trust of every founder he works with to be the first call when things are going well, and especially when they aren’t. He also has a broad range of interests outside of work, including cycling, science fiction, meditation, and U.S. history. Cowgill's three constants that always make him happy are his wife, his dog, and his guitars.
