Zhigang Suo

Zhigang Suo is the Allen E. and Marilyn M. Puckett Professor of Mechanics and Materials at Harvard University, with a rich academic and research background in the field of mechanics and materials.
Suo obtained his bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanics from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1985 and went on to complete his Ph.D. in Engineering Science at Harvard University in 1989, where he later joined the faculty.
During his career, Suo also held professorial positions at the University of California at Santa Barbara and Princeton University before returning to Harvard in 2003.
His research interests and specialties include fracture mechanics, elasticity, plasticity, diffusion, swelling of gels, and electroactive materials.
