Created a new role where I took responsibility for delivery and transformation of our recruitment.

Successfully delivered a transformation programme that:
- Renegotiated recruitment responsibility back from a third-party admin function.
- Built and managed a specialist in-house recruitment team.
- Implemented an internal job and salary QA process.
- Key contributor to introducing salary benchmarking and the creation of job communities.
- Re-wrote job descriptions using plain english i.e. not government jargon.
- Created new templates for job descriptions / adverts / shortlisting / interviews.
- Procured an Application Tracking System.
- Introduced recruitment data and reporting.
- Merged the separate perm and contract teams.

Also run workshops with other Government departments in the Civil Service to:
- Help them better understand digital and tech recruitment and how to be more effective at it.
- Help them to understand and appreciate the digital and tech psyche and how that translates into a tangible hiring strategy.
- Help them to assess the quality of their internal environment and how it affects their attractiveness to to candidates, and what they can do to improve it.
- Use all of the above to recommend and (at times) help execute successful hiring campaigns.
- Create recruitment standards and templates.

Managed The Recruitment Hub - helping departments bring digital and technology skills into government.

Supported departments on digital and technology recruitment through an advisory Recruitment Hub. This service is designed to help ensure the best possible candidates are recruited to deliver excellent digital public services supported by the right technology. The hub:

- maintains the generic advice and job descriptions published in the service manual
- supports departments in tailoring them to meet their needs
- advises on best routes to market to source these candidates
- helps coordinate sifting, interviewing and headhunting/recruitment agency support for senior and specialist roles.

Recruitment Manager, The Recruitment Hub

Coupling my role as RBP of BBC Future Media and also taking responsibility for the BBC Television division and driving forward recruitment best practices on a strategic level.

BBC Television is the biggest integrated multimedia broadcast and production group in the world. We’re responsible for commissioning, producing, scheduling and broadcasting the content of all the BBC’s television channels in the UK.

All of our people are dedicated to producing the highest standard content for the BBC’s ten national TV services providing entertainment, news, current affairs and arts coverage for the whole of the UK. Our output is available via analogue and digital TV, live online via channel websites and as video-on-demand via the BBC iPlayer. Small wonder, then, that 85% of the UK watches BBC television each week - more than any other broadcaster.

BBC Future Media is the driving force behind the BBC’s digital media proposition. We design, develop and run digital services and products. Our aim is to allow audiences to enjoy the BBC’s best content via their preferred route, whether that’s online, tablet, mobile, or through internet-connected TV.

Combining a hands-on Senior Technical Recruiter role whilst also acting up into a Recruitment Manager role managing a team of Senior and mid-weight Technical Recruiters.

Recruitment Manager (Acting), BBC Future Media (FM)

BBC Future Media and Technology departments are responsible for delivering a wide range of interactive services to license payers on all the main digital platforms including the internet, mobile and interactive television that aim to inform, educate and entertain.

My area of speciality within the business was running, sourcing and placing Technical, Creative, Commercial and Graduate roles. As a Senior Technical Recruiter, I managed and recruited all the BBC’s Grade 11 positions (Head of ~, Executive etc. level roles). 

My service meant that we did not require the use of recruitment agencies for any of my roles (agency-spend was zero). I utilised all my previous experience from working in an agency and amended what I have learnt accordingly for my internal recruitment role.

• Proactively and effectively managed the full cycle for senior/hard-to-fill recruitment campaigns, ensuring a smooth and positive experience with effective communication with all stakeholders at every stage of the process.
• Collaborated with hiring managers, heads of departments and HR Managers/Advisors to understand their hiring needs and goals
• Acted as a day to day contact for recruitment issues and first point of escalation for complaints or queries for resolution and where appropriate escalating.
• Screened resumes and telephone screened qualified candidates
• Facilitated interview and hiring discussions with interviewers and hiring managers
• Maintained data reports and performance metrics on a regular basis
• Drove offer process - including extending offers, closing candidates, and generating offer letters and hiring/contract details
• Acted as an internally and externally-facing representative of BBC and our talent acquisition team 
• Maintained all databases, ATS and MI reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Analysed and used MI to facilitate discussions around recruitment activity and proposals on new attraction and selection strategies for the future.
