Zeph Chang is the co-founder and COO of Lumos Debate, an education startup that teaches public speaking and debating skills to middle and high school students.13 As a debater, Zeph achieved significant success, placing 2nd at the Columbia Invitational and 3rd at the Yale Invitational, and ranking as high as 1st in Massachusetts and 3rd in the nation.1
Zeph has extensive coaching experience with the Westfield Debate Team and has developed educational debate curriculum for hundreds of Lumos students.1 His goal is to ensure that Lumos's philosophy of personalized learning is embodied in every class across all locations.1
In 2019, Zeph was recognized as one of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in Education.12 He co-founded Lumos Debate with Jessica Sun, and together they have grown the company significantly. In the past four years, Lumos Debate has served over 2,000 students, hired more than 100 instructors, and generated $1.6 million in revenues.3
Zeph is committed to customizing education and developing deep trust between teachers and students, drawing from his own difficult personal experiences in school.3 He is also an entrepreneur associated with Mathnasium.2
