    Zee Yeong

    Deputy Commissioner at Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC)

    Zee Yeong, also known as Zee Kin, is the Assistant Chief Executive (Data Innovation and Protection Group) at the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) and concurrently holds the position of Deputy Commissioner of the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).

    He is a key figure in developing forward-thinking governance on AI and data, driving AI talent pipeline, promoting industry adoption of AI and data analytics, and building AI and data science capabilities in Singapore.

    Zee Kin led the development of Singapore's Model AI Governance Framework, recognized by winning the UNITU WSIS Prize in 2019, while overseeing the administration and enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act (2012) at PDPC.

    An internationally acknowledged expert on AI ethics, Zee Kin is a member of the OECD Network of Experts on AI and previously contributed to the development of the OECD Principles on AI endorsed by the G20 in 2019.

    He is actively engaged in addressing data protection issues in AI development and deployment as an expert in the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI)’s Data Governance Working Group.

    With a legal background, Zee Yeong has spoken and published extensively on data privacy, electronic evidence, intellectual property, and legal aspects of Blockchain and AI deployment. His diverse experience includes practicing as a Technology, Media, and Telecommunications lawyer in both the public and private sectors.
