Zachary Smith, known as Zac, is a seasoned entrepreneur with a rich background in using technology to build automated infrastructure platforms. He began his entrepreneurial journey at a young age, starting a lawn mowing business with his brother. Over the past two decades, Zac has played a pivotal role in the growth of various tech companies, notably Voxel and Packet. At Voxel, a Linux-based hosting platform, Zac contributed to its evolution into a prominent cloud hosting company before it was acquired by Internap in 2011. In 2014, he co-founded Packet, focusing on empowering enterprises with automated bare metal infrastructure, which later became a leader in bare metal compute automation and was acquired by Equinix in 2020. Currently, Zac holds the position of Managing Director at Equinix, where he leads the strategic direction, product development, and go-to-market initiatives for Equinix's bare metal compute and edge services platform. In addition to his professional endeavors, Zac is a family man residing in Manhattan with his wife and two children. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance from The Juilliard School, underscoring his diverse skill set and interests.
