Zachary Murguía Burton, PhD, is a scientist, activist, and consultant who is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health. He is the co-founder of The Manic Monologues and serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Coalition for Action for Preventive Mental Health and the Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health. Zachary has written for a variety of publications, including Devex and the International Bipolar Foundation, and has been invited to speak at numerous events, including TEDx and the California Hospital Association.
In addition to his mental health advocacy work, Zachary is a respected scientist and consultant at Exponent. He has published research in several scientific journals and has been featured in popular media outlets such as CNN and Popular Science. A former researcher at NASA, Zachary has also worked as an Energy Analyst at The Solutions Project and as an Energy Policy Analyst at Stanford Precourt Institute for Energy.
Zachary has a Ph.D. in Geological & Environmental Sciences from Stanford University and a Bachelor's degree in Earth & Oceanographic Science and German from Bowdoin College. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Geophysical Union and Sigma Xi. In his free time, Zachary enjoys gardening, hitchhiking, and writing science poetry, which has been featured in The Wall Street Journal.
