Zach Brown

Zach Brown is a Tokyo-based technology leader with over 20 years of experience in driving impactful business outcomes with software.

He is currently running a consulting practice, partnering with major enterprises in Japan to empower high-performance product teams in utilizing Agile, DevOps, Lean Startup, and cloud-native technologies.

Zach has played a significant role in advocating for developers by championing the Steeltoe OSS project and influencing the product roadmap of Pivotal's Cloud Foundry platform (now VMware Tanzu) to address the needs of .NET developers.

Driven by analytics, he has led the creation and launch of enterprise data warehouse and Business Intelligence platforms for Oakwood, along with managing data science consulting engagements for Greenplum customers.

Zach strongly believes in fostering a culture of empathy and inclusion, considering it to be pivotal for driving innovation.

His expertise spans across Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, design thinking, Lean Startup principles, XP, CI/CD, TDD, Extreme Programming, containers, Kubernetes, Machine Learning, Analytics, BI, product strategy, and product management.

Zach Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies (Japan) from the University of California, Berkeley, and has also participated in programs like the International Summer Program at Peking University and is a Global Executive MBA Candidate '22, Singapore at INSEAD.

He currently serves as the Head of VMware Tanzu Labs, Japan at VMware, overseeing the operations and strategic direction of the entity.
