Zac Topping
Owner Operator at Kelly Sports Manawatu
Zac Topping is a sports professional who owned and operated Kelly Sports Manawatu from October 2017 to July 2021.2 He grew up in Levin and studied at university in Palmerston North before working at Sport Manawatu.1 Zac's career in sports began unexpectedly when he entered a 100-meter race during a secondary school competition and placed second.1
Throughout his career, Zac has held various positions in the sports industry:
- Community sport advisor at Sport Manawatu
- Manager of indoor sports facilities in Wellington
- Event team leader organizing triathlons and community events
- Owner and operator of Kelly Sports franchise12
As a Kelly Sports franchisee, Zac achieved significant success:
- Won the new franchisee of the year award in his second year
- Received the trophy for the best overall franchise the following year
- Managed a team of 7-12 staff
- Focused on in-school-hours work to provide work-life balance for his team
- Introduced a program offering free water safety lessons to 2,000 children1
Zac is also an accomplished athlete, participating in the national 4x100 meter squad with aspirations to qualify for the Commonwealth Games. He has represented New Zealand at the Oceania Games.1
Currently, Zac Topping holds the position of Partnerships Manager at Canterbury Rugby Union.2
