Yolanne Lee
PhD Candidate in Computer Science, Specializing in Maths, ML/DL, and Programming
Yolanne Lee is a Doctoral Researcher at University College London (UCL), currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science. She has a background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, having graduated with a BEng in this field. Her research focuses on enhancing the resolution of 3D reconstructions of macromolecules, in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics. Additionally, she is involved in the FAIRmat project, where she is developing a data and metadata schema for Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) experiments at the Fritz-Haber-Institut.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Yolanne has experience in project management from her internship at Arm, and she previously worked as a machine learning engineer at a startup called Kintsugi, where she developed a convolutional neural network for detecting clinical depression and anxiety through voice biomarkers. She is also an active member of the student community at UCL, holding leadership roles such as President of Engineers Without Borders UCL and serving as a Faculty Representative.
Yolanne is a versatile individual with interests that span languages, philosophy, web development, and machine learning. She is also a performing pianist and has engaged in public speaking on topics related to technology and engineering.1
