Yogi Trivedi

Yogi Trivedi is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where he contributes his expertise in media and communication. He is also a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Religion at Columbia University. Trivedi has a rich academic background, holding a Master's degree in Religion from Columbia University and currently pursuing his PhD in the same department.

His research primarily focuses on Bhakti, a devotional strand of Hinduism, particularly through the lens of music in Early Modern Gujarat, India. He engages with the bhakti-poetry of the Swaminarayan Sampraday, exploring its cultural and spiritual implications. In addition to his academic pursuits, Trivedi is a trained Hindustani classical and folk singer, having performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Continental Airlines Arena.12

Before his academic career, Yogi Trivedi worked as a broadcast journalist, which informs his teaching style and course content at the journalism school. He has also contributed articles to major publications such as The New York Times and has been involved in various cultural initiatives, including lectures on Hindustani music.123
