Yeogirl Yun is a renowned entrepreneur and technologist with over 23 years of experience in founding and growing technology companies. During his career, Yun has founded five companies, including mySimon.com, Wisenut.com, and Gshopper. His expertise spans Internet search engine and e-commerce industries in the US, China, Japan, and South Korea.
Yun is a holder of four US patents and one Korea patent. He is a Stanford University alumnus, where he earned a master's degree in Computer Science. Yun also holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Seoul National University.
In 1998, Yun founded mySimon.com and served as CTO. He raised about $30M in capital and was responsible for the website's design and development, which earned accolades for its comprehensiveness by supporting thousands of e-commerce merchants. Yun's VLA (Virtual Learning Agent) technology, which powered mySimon.com, was acquired by CNET in 2000 for $700M.
In 1999, Yun founded Wisenut.com, which was acquired by LookSmart in 2002. In 2000, Yun founded WiseNut, Inc. (formerly Korea WISEnut) and served as its Chairman. The company has over 4,000 corporate and institutional clients, and it's Asia Pacific's fastest-growing companies.
Yun founded Become.com in 2004 and served as Chairman and CTO. He raised about $12M in venture capital and led its technology development, which led to the creation of Become.com website. Yun also founded Become Japan Corporation in 2005.
Since 2007, Yun has been building a global cross-border e-commerce platform at Gshopper.com.
